What is Cohousing
Sharing Turns Proximity Into Community
A cohousing community is flexible by design. Our building includes private condos and shared common spaces intentionally designed to foster social interaction among neighbors of all ages, including children. Shared spaces include a kitchen big enough to prepare a meal for thirty or more; a great room for movie nights, games, or hot cocoa by the fire; a children’s room with toys, books, and kid-size furniture; as well as a garden terrace with pergola, library, guest suite, bike room, and exercise room. Oak Park Commons owners work together to keep the building running efficiently, and - when they want - meet up for a shared meal, book group, or easy walk into downtown Oak Park.
